生きていれば、良いことはたくさんある。その一つ。写真は、高校陸上部時代の、一つ上の先輩と二つ上の先輩。五人で会うのは、もちろん初めて。二つ上の先輩が卒業してからだと、実に44年ぶりに会った。僕が提案して、一つ上の先輩が川越在住だから、鰻でも五人でどうでしょうと。都立高校100メートル競技で、初めてインターハイに行った、憧れの先輩と昔話に花が咲いた。持つべきものはいい先輩、友人、お客様である（笑）。
Life has many good things. This is one of them. The photo shows my high school track team seniors—the one year above me and the two years above me. This was, of course, the first time all five of us had met. Since the two years above me graduated, it had been a full 44 years since we last saw each other. I suggested it, and since the one year above me lives in Kawagoe, I thought, “How about the five of us grab some eel?” We reminisced with the seniors I admired, who were the first from our public high school to make it to the national high school championships in the 100-meter dash. The things you should have in life are good seniors, good friends, and good customers (laugh).
