去年くらいから、気になっていることを、みなさんにお聞きします。特に昨年から今年に、通勤道で鳩の死骸が多く見られる点である。実は店の前のワイプナと云うコンドミニアムに、5年ほど住んでいた。斜向かいにセブンイレブンがあり、餌を与える人多数でかなりの数の鳩がいた。20年前の話だ。その頃、鳩の死骸を見たことがなかった。漠然と、鳩は最後の姿を見せない生き物と、勝手に思っていた。それがどうだ。昨年から今年は、通勤道の至る所で、死骸を発見。今日なんかは２羽車に轢かれていた。僕は思うに、電気自動車の増加また電子機器の進化で、鳩の感覚が狂ったか、電気自動車に気が付くことが出来ないのかと考えた。日本はどうだろう？知っている人は教えて欲しい。
I’d like to ask everyone about something that’s been on my mind since around last year. Specifically, the fact that I’ve seen many dead pigeons along my commute route, especially from last year to this year. Actually, I lived in a condominium called Wipuna in front of the store for about five years. There was a 7-Eleven diagonally across the street, and with many people feeding them, there were quite a number of pigeons. That was 20 years ago. Back then, I never saw any dead pigeons. I vaguely assumed pigeons were creatures that didn’t show their final moments. But look at this. From last year to now, I’ve found carcasses everywhere along my commute. Today alone, two were run over by cars. I wonder if the increase in electric vehicles and the evolution of electronics have disrupted the pigeons’ senses, or if they simply can’t detect electric cars. What about Japan? If anyone knows, please tell me.
